How do I secure my hotel room?
You will receive a confirmation email once you register. A detailed listing of accommodations will be included with booking instructions. Please note: The NC Association of REALTORS® hotel blocks are only available to registered convention attendees. Group blocks will be monitored to confirm all registered attendees.

Does my spouse/guest pay the same registration fee?
When you invite your spouse or guest who is NOT an NCAR member, your spouse/guest will receive the special guest rate listed above. This fee will enable your spouse or guest to attend all convention events, except those that require additional fees, such as continuing education courses and optional activities. If your spouse or guest is an NCAR member, both of you should pay the regular registration fee.

Can I register online?
You can register online by clicking "Register Now" on the left toolbar.

Do I register once in Myrtle Beach?

Admission to ALL convention functions is by your name badge ONLY and WILL be monitored. Registration is required to attend any and all events. Badges are not transferable.

What does the registration fee include?
The registration fee will include all convention program activities with the exception of recreational activities. Yes, this includes welcoming refreshments, the Expo, education sessions, the keynote address at the opening session, continental breakfast each morning, a lunch in the Expo, opening evening reception, and many opportunities for networking. The daily registration includes only that entire day's activities, except for optional events.

What are the refund and cancellation policies?
You will receive a full refund, less $60 per person processing fee, if cancellation is received by September 3, 2010. Cancellations must be in writing and mailed, faxed or emailed to NCAR. Cancellations will NOT be taken over the phone. No refunds will be given after September 3, 2010.

I can't come to the convention after all. Can someone else in my office use my registration?
Transfer of registration is not allowed under any circumstance.

Why is the convention being held in another state?
The members who regularly attend our conventions have expressed a strong desire to have the event in a resort location.  North Carolina lacks a resort facility capable of handling a group our size.    We have outgrown the Grove Park Inn in Asheville and there is no coastal facility in North Carolina which fulfills our meeting specifications.  Our organization and other large N.C. associations have lobbied state officials for years to help locate a large resort facility in North Carolina.  So far, our efforts in this regard have not been successful.

The Wilmington Convention Center will be a future option. The earliest completion time of the convention center will be 2013. We hope, and have the desire, to host our annual convention in North Carolina upon the completion of this convention center and hotel.

We had a very successful convention in Savannah in 2006 with a record attendance of nearly 1200 attendees.  We utilized three major hotels and a convention center. We anticipate that we will require exhibit space for 130 or more exhibitors.  In comparison, we had our 2008 annual event in Charlotte.  The attendance  in Charlotte was 25 percent less than that of Savannah in 2006.

It’s worth noting that our neighboring states of South Carolina and Georgia have much smaller REALTOR® conventions than ours.  In the recent past,  the Georgia and South Carolina REALTOR® Associations have actually brought their annual events to North Carolina.

I've seen a logo advertising a code for Twitter. What's that about?
This symbol is called a Hashtag: #. Twitter Hashtags are used to label or categorize Twitter posts. You can use them to follow tweets in real-time on one subject from different Twitter users by putting them on one screen. Very simply, if you are interested in a conversation, event, or topic, you can follow all the tweets with that Hashtag. We have created the Hashtag #10ncarconv to make it easier for you to follow tweets about our 2010 convention. Here's how to follow our convention tweets:

  1. To get convention updates, enter the convention hashtag, #10ncarconv, into Twitter search or a Twitter application such as Tweetdeck. You will see one page with all of the convention tweets.
  2. To add your own convention tweet, make an entry on your Twitter page and add the convention hashtag, #10ncarconv, to the end. Your tweet will then show up on the same page with all of our other convention tweets.
